As the 7th and 8th grade band prepare in the high school band room for the performance, I yawn from staying up late last night. The band is in tune and warmed up, and it is time to enter the stage. As our teacher makes her way to stage right to open the performance, I make sure that none of the keys on my flute are sticking. As we start our opening piece, the creative side f my mind takes over, and I am focused on the sound and the notes. After the performance I ate food at the wagon wheel.
